محمد مختار

محمد مختار، واسمه الحقيقي محمد علي الزريدي، مغنٍّ ليبي وُلد في بنغازي سنة 1938 ويُعدّ من أبرز أصوات الأغنية الليبية الكلاسيكية. انطلق مشواره مع افتتاح الإذاعة الليبية في رأس اعبيدة سنة 1957 وانضم إلى فرقتها، وسجّل أولى أغنياته في العام نفسه، واتخذ اسم محمد مختار اسماً فنياً. تعاون مع ملحنين ليبيين بارزين منهم حسن عريبي وعلي قدورة ويوسف العلم، وترك رصيداً يزيد على مئة أغنية عاطفية ووطنية واجتماعية، أشهرها أغنية العيد يا عزيز عليا مبروك عيدك. كان من مؤسسي نقابة الفنانين الليبيين سنة 1976، وتوفي في بنغازي في 8 أكتوبر 2021 عن ثلاثة وثمانين عاماً.

Mohamed Mokhtar, whose real name was Mohamed Ali al-Zuraidi, was a Libyan singer born in Benghazi in 1938 and regarded as one of the leading classical voices of Libyan song. His career began with the opening of Libyan Radio at Ras Obeida in 1957, where he joined the radio ensemble and recorded his first songs that same year, taking Mohamed Mokhtar as a stage name. He worked with prominent Libyan composers including Hassan Oraibi, Ali Gadoura and Youssef al-Alam, and left more than a hundred recorded songs, the best known being the Eid song "Ya Aziz Alaya Mabrouk Eidak". He was among the founders of the Libyan Artists Syndicate in 1976, and died in Benghazi on 8 October 2021 at the age of 83.
