الطاهر عمر

الطاهر عمر، واسمه الكامل الطاهر عمر الجروشي، مطرب وملحن وكاتب أغنية ليبي من مواليد مدينة بنغازي عام 1938. اكتشف موهبته الفنان علي الشعالية عام 1957، وكانت بدايته بأغنية «زعم يا قمر وين الحبايب» من كلمات خديجة الجهمي وألحان علي الشعالية، ثم بدأ يكتب كلماته بنفسه اعتباراً من عام 1958. سافر إلى القاهرة عام 1967 والتحق بالمعهد العالي للموسيقى العربية متخصصاً في آلة الكمان وتخرج منه عام 1972، ولحّن خلال إقامته في مصر أعمالاً لفنانات منهن شريفة فاضل وفايزة أحمد وسعاد محمد. عاد إلى ليبيا وتولى عام 1973 رئاسة الفرقة الموسيقية بإذاعة بنغازي، ثم عمل مدرساً للموسيقى في عدد من مدارس بنغازي ومعهد جمال الدين الميلادي بطرابلس. توفي في 21 أكتوبر 2010 بعد مسيرة تجاوزت نصف قرن بين الغناء والتلحين وكتابة الكلمات.

Taher Omar, full name Taher Omar al-Jaroushi, was a Libyan singer, composer and lyricist born in Benghazi in 1938. His talent was discovered by the artist Ali al-Shaalia in 1957, and he began with the song 'Zaam Ya Qamar Wein al-Habayib', written by Khadija al-Jahmi and composed by Ali al-Shaalia, before starting to write his own lyrics from 1958. He travelled to Cairo in 1967 and enrolled at the Higher Institute of Arab Music, specialising in violin and graduating in 1972, and while in Egypt he composed works for singers including Sharifa Fadel, Fayza Ahmed and Souad Mohamed. He returned to Libya and in 1973 took charge of the music ensemble at Benghazi Radio, later teaching music in several Benghazi schools and at the Jamal al-Din al-Miladi Institute in Tripoli. He died on 21 October 2010 after a career of more than half a century spanning singing, composing and songwriting.
