Berwel is an archive of Libyan song. Reading, listening and searching need no account; the contribution terms below apply once you sign in and submit something. By using Berwel you accept these terms.
The lyrics, translations, annotations and metadata on Berwel are for reading and listening here. Quote a line, share a link, tell people about a song. Do not scrape, bulk-download or republish the archive's text, in whole or in substantial part, and do not feed it to a system that does.
Copying is switched off on lyric panels. That is a reminder of the rule, not the rule's limit.
Do not interfere with the site, probe it for weaknesses, or use it to send spam.
Berwel does not host recordings. They stream from SoundCloud, or from YouTube where a recording links there, under those platforms' own terms. A recording can stop working if it is removed at its source, and Berwel does not sell, license or distribute recordings.
You need an email address or a Google account to sign in, and you must be 13 or older. Keep your sign-in email under your control; what is done from your account counts as done by you. Pick a display name that is yours, not somebody else's.
Song lyrics belong to their poets and composers. What you contribute is your transcription, translation, transliteration, annotation or correction, and you must have the right to submit it. Do not paste in text from a site that does not allow it.
By submitting, you grant Berwel a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit, translate, reformat, combine with other contributions and remove your submission, in the archive's name, in every language the archive offers, on this site and in whatever form the archive takes later. You keep the rights you had.
Where the product shows credit, it is yours: your profile and the contribution list beside your name. If you delete your account, your contributions stay without your name.
Contributions are reviewed before they enter the archive, except those from contributors Berwel trusts, which are published straight away. A reviewer can approve a submission, edit it, or reject it, usually with a reason, and you can resubmit after a rejection. Berwel may edit or remove any content at any time, with or without notice.
An account that submits copied, false, abusive or spam content, or that misuses the site, can be banned. Points and stamps are recognition, not payment; they can be adjusted or withdrawn when the contributions behind them are removed.
Berwel is fed by volunteers. Lyrics and metadata can be wrong, the site can be unavailable, and it can change or close. It is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, Berwel is not liable for loss that comes from using it. These terms are governed by the laws of Libya, and disputes about them go before the competent courts in Tripoli.
These terms may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Using Berwel after a change means you accept it. Questions, takedown requests and rights claims go through the report form or to [email protected]. How your data is handled is in the privacy policy.
